MLM|Multi-Level Marketing

Multi-level   marketing  (MLM)  is  a marketing   approach   in which  the  sales   force   is     reimbursed  not only for sales  they personally  generate, but  also for the sales  of others they recruit which creates a down-line of distributors and a hierarchy of multiple levels of compensation.

MLM is a business marketing scheme in which salespeople profit from both their sale of products  and from new  salespeople they have  recruited. The Sales Manager recruits sales people to become his down-line-the commission his sales team earn will help feed his bonus. New recruits go on to recruit new salespeople who will, like everyone else receive commission on their sales with the recruiters earning an added bonus of 5% on each of these sales and the top sales manager, who began the recruiting process, receiving 2%. This creates a tiered bonus upstream.

The Company and Products of MLM marketing are promoted directly to consumers and potential business partners by means of relationship referrals and word of mouth marketing. MLM can be classified as a form
of direct selling rather than being direct selling.

Distributors develop their organisations by either building an active customer base who purchase direct from the company or by recruiting a down-line of independent distributors who also build a customer base and therefore increasing the overall organisation.
